story

When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to grow up. I dreamed about adulthood as a world full of freedom, excitement, and endless adventures. But as I stepped into that dream, reality turned out to be a little different.

Now, as a young adult finding my place in the grown-up world, my days are filled with waking up, working, working out, eating healthy, and cleaning - just so I can feel like I’ve got my life together. Some days, it feels like I’m on autopilot, living the same day over and over again.

It’s in those moments that life feels heavy. The spark I had as a kid - the joy, the creativity, the freedom - feels like it’s slipping away, buried under the weight of responsibilities and expectations.

One of my toughest months in 2024 brought me back to something I loved as a little girl: Hannah Montana. As I rewatched the show, I was reminded of the little girl I used to be - the one who’d run home from school, excited to watch Disney Channel while my Mum made me a snack. Watching Hannah Montana made me feel like a kid again; carefree, joyful, and full of imagination.

One night, I lit a candle, poured myself a glass of wine, and turned on Hannah Montana. As I stared at the flame, time seemed to finally slow down. That tiny moment reminded me of something I’d forgotten; how to find happiness in the life I was so excited to grow into.

That simple ritual - candle, wine, and an episode of Hannah Montanaquickly became the best part of my day. It was a tribute to the little girl I once was. A reminder that life’s simplest moments can still feel magical, even in the midst of adulting.

And that’s when the idea for Don’t Eat My Candle was born.

I wanted to create a world for other young adults, like me, to rediscover their childlike spark. Something playful and nostalgic, a little bit quirky, and a lot of fun. A candle that isn’t just a candle - but a daily escape, a reminder of the magic that exists in life’s little things.

Each candle is designed to take you on a nostalgic journey, bringing a touch of joy, creativity, and playfulness into your everyday life. A small, simple pleasure that makes even the heaviest days feel a little lighter.

Don’t Eat My Candle is for the little you who would’ve begged your parents to buy one - and for the adult you, who needs a little reminder that happiness is waiting to be found in the smallest, quirkiest moments.
